What a fantastic start to an exciting year for the Brownies during 2014. It is our centenary year and we've lots going on.
We have welcomed new friends to our unit and while we've been sorry to see some of our older girls move up to Guides, we feel certain they shall continue to enjoy their Guiding experience.
The beginning of term saw us start two challenge badges: the Big Brownie Birthday Badge, and the Commonwealth Games badge. The badges are no mean feat to accomplish, and the girls have got stuck in with great gusto. As well as celebrating Thinking Day with a variety of games and songs from units from across the world, the activities are many and varied including, learning about other countries: South Africa and Australia, learning about codes, phonetics and challenging the girls to 'break a code', and joining with the Guides for a superb evening enjoying Tai Chi. In the coming months we shall be making Memory Boxes, Foot painting, and welcoming our young Rainbow friends from Claremont Church as well as looking forward to our own visit to our Cub Scout friends at Kirktonholme Scout Hall.
We were so excited to join a Countywide Big Brownie Celebration visit to the Glasgow Science Centre where we were allowed to enjoy hours of fun learning and exploring.
Our term shall close at the end of May with a themed Centenary party when we shall all come dressed in an outfit from an era of our choice from the past 100 years.
